The Ribeiras do Sor reserve was created in 1956, and was established in the upper boundary with the A Tronca dam and its lower boundary with the Riberas bridge.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the beauty of the landscape, take a look at the remains of an old chair lift that was used for fishermen to cross the river! Although the <strong>river mussel<\/strong> is the most characteristic inhabitant of these waters, representing one of the very few Galician populations of this species.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t leave without going to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.concellodealfoz.com\/esp\/espacio\/38\/cascada-do-escouridal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O Escouridal waterfall<\/a>, one of the largest in Galicia with its 70m height. It is part of the river Guilfonso, a tributary of the Ouro and works as a geographical boundary between Alfoz and O Valadouro. It was built by the Benedictine monks of Lourenz\u00e1 to transport the materials with which to build San Salvador monastery; it is an example of Galician baroque.
